Urgent Discussions on the Impact of the Entry/Exit System (EES)

Representatives of the WB6 Chamber Investment Forum (CIF) participated in the Technical Working Group on the Entry/Exit System (EES), organized by the European Commission, together with institutions from the Western Balkans and private sector stakeholders .

The meeting focused on the potential impact of the implementation of the EES on businesses and cross-border movement in the region.

Significant Economic Risks Highlighted

Discussions underscored a highly critical situation for the Western Balkans economy. It was noted that up to 100,000 jobs are at immediate risk, affecting more than 370,000 companies across the region.

Any disruption at border crossings could lead to serious economic consequences, particularly for sectors dependent on efficient transport, trade, and mobility.

Need for Urgent and Pragmatic Solutions

Participants emphasized the importance of rapid and practical decision-making to mitigate potential risks. In this context, the need for flexible and pragmatic solutions, including interim or bilateral measures where necessary, was highlighted.

WB6 CIF reaffirmed its commitment to actively contribute to the process by representing the interests of the business community and supporting the development of solutions that ensure business continuity across the region.
